Customs
Headquarters has favorably responded to certain objections raised
regarding its continued processing of certain outstanding CF 28’s.
While
Headquarters agreed to cease issuing CF 28s to importers (which
had asked them to answer a series of questions relating to their
documented security procedures), Headquarters also instructed
its field personnel to continue processing any outstanding CTPAT
CF 28’s.
We
pursued this issue, and as a result, on April 8, 2003, Customs
issued a statement to the effect that all ports would be instructed
to cease processing outstanding CTPAT CF 28s. Anyone that would
like a copy of this letter may obtain one by contacting our web
master (EC McPherson) and requesting a copy of the “Apr
8 letter re CTPAT.”
