The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced last week that companies will now have the opportunity to post their Commodity Classification information via the BIS website. BIS explains that they have done this in an effort to aid businesses in the licensing process and to assist exporters in complying with U.S. export and re-export control laws.
To use the service, a company must have their Commodity Classification information and export control point of contact listed on a website. The information will then be made accessible via a link through the BIS website.
A company must contact the BIS via email at CommodityClassification@bis.doc.gov to set up this service. The email must include the following information, which will be posted on the BIS website:
1) Company name
2) General description of the products/services
3) Commodity Classification information website address
4) Export control point of contact
