USTR Announces China Section 301 Tariffs to Continue

September 6, 2022

In a press release on September 2, 2022, the USTR announced after the mandatory four-year review that Section 301 tariffs imposed on July 6, 2018 and August 23, 2018 would remain in effect with possible modifications. The USTR received requests for the tariffs to continue from representatives of the U.S. industries benefitting from the tariffs, and, as mandated by statute, the tariffs will continue after their respective four-year anniversaries.

At a later date separate notices will be published describing the next steps in the review process of the July 6 and August 23 tariffs.
