Trump’s Tariffs – The Additional $300 Billion

August 1, 2019

As many of you know by now, earlier today President Trump tweeted out that the 10% duties on List 4, comprising the remaining HTS numbers, will go into effect on September 1 even though trade negotiations continue. Trump cited the need for tariffs due to the fact that China’s promise to increase its purchase of U.S. agricultural products as well as its promise to stop the sale of Fentanyl to the U.S. have fallen short.

The USTR’s office declined to comment to a telephone inquiry on the anticipated date for the publication of the actual list of affected HTS numbers.
